Conveniently located at 3121 Heritage Trade Drive, the Junior High is just two doors down from the current Thales K-5. Upon completion the facility will offer eight classrooms, a reception area, administrative office, and teacher’s lounge. Everyone is very excited to have the new space, which will serve as the home for the Junior High for several years until the permanent facility is completed near Hwy 401/Burlington Mills.

Seventh Grade Students from Apex and Wake Forest joined forces for a great two days together at Blue Jay Point. Students were able to spend the two day field trip engaged in interactive science lessons, games, smores, and other great activities.

Students from each location were mixed together into teams and competed for points throughout the trip. From identifying bird behavior, to trees, to relay races, students kept high spirits throughout.

Blue Jay Point was as a wonderfulvenue for the event. Nestled into an exceptionally quiet area of Falls Lake, the park offered a chance to listen to the sounds of nature and experience the natural beauty of the area.

Many thanks to the parents and teachers who came together to make this such a great trip for the students. It served as a wonderful opportunity for the students to have a change of pace after a year filled with learning in the classroom.

Thales Raleigh has moved closer toward construction. Families and staff are eagerly anticipating final approvals before the ground breaking. The Thales Raleigh facility will serve as the third Thales K-5 facility in Wake County.

During the 2011-2012 academic year Thales Raleigh will offer Grades K-3 in its temporary location. The construction of the new facility will allow Thales Raleigh to provide the full range of elementary grade levels. Stay tuned for exciting updates.

Thales Wake Forest is pleased to announce updates for the Junior High facility which was purchased in January. Within the last two weeks, permits were officially granted, the construction contract was awarded and the renovation has begun!

The Junior High Facility at 3121 Heritage Trade Drive will offer eight classrooms and will service the upper school until 2014 when the school moves to its permanent location nearby at Burlington Mills and Highway 401. The facility will feature classrooms similar to the existing Junior High classrooms, complete with Smart Boards, Mac computers and new furniture.

The school is eagerly anticipating the completion of the new Junior High facility and will invite parents to tour the location upon its completion this summer.

On December 11th, more than 60 students and parents from Thales Wake Forest volunteered at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina warehouse in Durham.  Led by Patrick Spencer, volunteer coordinator, the Thales volunteers collected and sorted through hundreds of pounds of food that will be distributed to families in need around the Triangle. We look forward to a long term friendship with the the Food Bank. Our students enjoyed the experience and walked away with a greater appreciation for their ability to make a positive impact on society.

About the Food Bank:

Established in 1980, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina for 30 years. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through warehouses in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington. In fiscal year 2009-2010, the Food Bank distributed more than 41.5 million pounds of food and non-food essentials through these agencies.

Sadly, hunger remains a serious problem in central and eastern North Carolina. In these counties, more than 500,000 struggle each day to provide enough food for their families. Nearly 29 percent of the people served by the Food Bank’s network are children, and another 8 percent are elderly. Thirty percent of the families served are the “working poor” people who work hard and still have to choose between eating and other basic necessities such as medicine and housing.
