Thales Academy Moves Forward with Expansion into Raleigh

Thales Academy recently acquired a third Wake County site in its continued growth. It all began three years ago with one site, 30 students, and high expectations. Founder Robert Luddy, local businessman and entrepreneur, saw the need for affordable high quality education that would help America keep its moral and economic leadership in the competitive world. Thales Academy, a non-profit system of private schools, was the answer. Three years later, with 500 students, campuses in Wake Forest, Apex and Raleigh (under development) the results are speaking for themselves as the concept continues to gain interest. Parents are enthusiastically embracing the Thales model for educational success which utilizes efficient teaching and operating methods to produce superior academic results while lowering the cost of the education for parents. The new 10 acre Raleigh location, at the corner of Fox Road and I-540, will serve North Raleigh and surrounding areas. It will be home to a K-5, opening in 2011, and a middle school and high school, planned to open in 2012. Upon completion, the Fox Road Thales location will boast approximately 19 classrooms and the same world class education found at Thales Apex and Wake Forest. The K-5 building will be designed after the Thales Apex and Wake Forest facilities.

Thales Academy’s methods of instruction have been extensively studied and are proven effective. The effective implementation of this model has drawn the attention of educators in the local area and from as far away as Canada. Thales aims to continue expansion in order to provide a highly successful, values based, educational option to families.

Raleigh Property:

Thales Academy has recently purchased the property for the Raleigh location, and site engineering is underway. The new property consists of 10.2 acres of land at the corner of Fox Road at the I-540 overpass. Thales Raleigh will open at the start of the 2011-2012 academic year and will host grades K-5. As with both the Wake Forest and Apex Thales, a new grade level will be added each year. The K-5 building will be a duplicate of the Wake Forest and Apex facilities and will accommodate up to 19 classrooms. A second building will be constructed near the campus to house middle school and high school. It will mirror the structural design of Franklin Academy middle school building on Chalk Road in Wake Forest, containing approximately 21 classrooms and a gym. The second building is planned to open for the 2012-2013 academic school year. The Raleigh facilities will follow a year round schedule.
